Diego Segatto (Campus in Camps)

Campus in Camps is an educational program that activates collective critical learning environments in Palestinian refugee camps. Founded in 2012 and active within four camps in the West Bank, it is a space for the production of knowledge grounded in the lived experience of its communities. Participant-run courses incorporate collaborations with local and international universities. In 2016, Campus in Camps took part in the Here We Are Academy, part of the project Unstated (or, Living Without Approval) at BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht.

Fellowship Research Trajectory

Isshaq Al-Barbary and Diego Segatto (members of Campus in Camps) explore a communal learning environment through Al Maeishah, which assembles participants with diverse knowledge and experience. Employing the Arabic term for a shared home space, Al Maeishah is conceived around hospitality, the common, and the question(ing) of the nation state. It works as a long-term journey, an experimental and itinerant process, and an investigative praxis that can be replicated, scaled, and tailored as a creative process in fieri.
