Arelly Collazos

educator and food sovereignty activist
“I am Arelly Collazos. I am an Afro-Colombian woman from the southwest of Colombia, the daughter of peasants. I am passionate about all expressions of life, respectful of the universal laws that govern it. I am a wife and mother of two children. I have worked in nursing for more than 30 years.
Now, I am dedicated to taking the bread from the earth, the true bread that sustains life, enacting food sovereignty that gives dignity to the communities and my territory. I am a teacher at the Cacilda Cundumí School. I am a member of the Process for Political Incidence of Northern Cauca and I am a manager of community economies (self-managed savings groups and farmers’ markets).”
