With Distinguished Professor David Harvey, Associate Professor Miguel Robles-Durán, artist Jeanne Van Heeswijk, curator and writer Laura Raicovich, activist and politician Gala Pin, urban sociologist Laia Forne, artist and BAK 2018/2019 Fellow Charl Landvreugd, writer, researcher and BAK 2017/2018 Fellow Isshaq Al-Barbary, artist and 2017/2018 Fellow Ola Hassanain, Charli Herrington and Carina Jansen.

The discussion starts with an introduction to the practice of Urban Front by co-founders David Harvey and Miguel Robles-Durán. Since its presentation in the Chicago Architecture Biennial in 2019, Urban Front has aimed to reinvent forms of practice in the field of urban research and planning, providing trans-disciplinary research support, tactical directions and critical advice to diverse governments and organizations. But how was Urban Front developed, and how does it fit in the current scenario of the neoliberal city? What are its mechanism to create new forms of urban practice more akin to today’s capitalist condition?

After this introduction, Harvey and Robles-Durán enter into a conversation on the future of the city with artist Jeanne van Heeswijk, curator and writer Laura Raicovich, activist and politician Gala Pin, urban sociologist Laia Forne, artist Charl Landvreugd, BAK 2017/2018 Fellow Isshaq Albarbary, artist Charli Herrington and artist Carina Jansen.

This discussion is part of a two-day program with Urban Front (David Harvey and Miguel Robles-Durán), taking place at BAK on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 December 2019 as part of Trainings for the Not-Yet (14 September 2019–12 January 2020).
