Het project Future Vocabularies start in 2014 met een eerste voorstel voor het vocabulaire: overleven, oftewel survival. Het doel van deze reeks is het vormen van de basis voor meerdere conceptuele discoursen waaruit de latere thema’s en methodes voortvloeien voor zowel ons denken als ons handelen.

Anders dan de hierop volgende semesters, waarbij steeds wordt samengewerkt met een individuele onderzoeker, brengt het eerste semester meerdere kunstenaars en theoretici samen uit belangrijke vroegere en lopende projecten van BAK. Hiermee willen we vanuit gesprekken met ons publiek en ons kennisarchief, opgebouwd uit diverse samenwerkingsstructuren, een rode draad van continuïteit spannen richting de onbekende toekomst.

Uitgangspunt van het project is concrete proposities ten uitvoer te brengen – samengebracht onder de gemene deler van (herbezinning op) overleven – die de “condities van het mogelijke” onderzoeken binnen wat veelal gezien wordt als de ineengestorte, door crises belaagde muren van het heden, waarbij dit niet gebeurt strijdend tegen, maar “ondanks de tijden” waarin we leven.

These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.

During these sessions—part of the bASIC aCTIVIST kITCHEN (b.a.k.) program in collaboration with Berend Bombarius, De Voorkamer and BAK, basis voor actuele kunst—we want to collectively explore the topic of setting up community kitchens. Different strategies, tools, methodologies, and contexts are explored to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in the practices and theories of community kitchens.
