Book Launch of Former West: Art and the Contemporary After 1989

A conversation with Maria Hlavajova, Suhail Malik, Irit Rogoff, Simon Sheikh, and Marina Vishmidt

On Wednesday 31 May 2017 is the London launch of Former West: Art and the Contemporary After 1989. Former West: Art and the Contemporary After 1989 has been published in the context of the curatorial and artistic research experiment FORMER WEST (2008–2016), developed by BAK and realized through manifold partnerships with artists, theorists, activists, as well as art and educational institutions transnationally.

ABiotic Factors

From 24 June to 9 July 2017, BAK hosts the MaHKU graduation exhibition ABiotic Factors. Departing from nature-culture, this year’s MaHKU graduation project takes the urban environment as a site of mutual interactions between both living and non-living agents.
