Welke positieve mogelijkheden zouden er voor de hedendaagse maatschappelijke ruimte in Europa kunnen voortkomen uit de botsing tussen twee tegenstrijdige ontwikkelingen: aan de ene kant de verheerlijking van de transnationale ruimte en aan de andere kant de heropleving van hypernationalisme op regionaal en lokaal niveau? Rosi Braidotti stelt dat een proces van becoming minoritarian een manier kan zijn om ruimte te creëren en om ons begrip van het fenomeen burgerschap uit te breiden. Dit becoming minoritarian ligt ten grondslag aan begrippen als ‘nomadische identiteiten’, ‘verantwoordelijkheid’ en de ‘antiracistische herpositionering van het blank-zijn’. Dit proces streeft ernaar een incorrect universalisme om te vormen tot een duidelijker gesitueerd, lokaal perspectief om zodoende de ‘alles overheersende tendensen ongedaan te maken’. Braidotti bespreekt hoe het becoming minoritarian van Europa actueel wordt gemaakt: door, in tegenstelling tot de overheersende tendensen binnen ‘Fort Europa’, nationaliteit en etnische identiteit los te koppelen van de vraagstukken rondom burgerschap—wat de sleutel vormt tot een flexibel idee van burgerschap—en waarmee de politieke, sociale en culturele betekenissen die aan het begrip ‘vreemdeling’ worden toegekend op positieve wijze worden omgedraaid. De eerste stap in dit proces is de erkenning van de realiteit van het huidige multiculturele Europa, waarbij een evenwichtige analyse van het koloniale verleden en de rol die totalitaire ideologieën als fascisme en communisme in de Europese geschiedenis hebben gespeeld niet mag ontbreken. Dit is zowel een uitdaging als een noodzakelijkheid, omdat een postnationalistische visie op Europa, hoe tegenstrijdig het ook lijkt, pas denkbaar wordt op het historische moment dat de Europese hegemonie niet langer vanzelfsprekend is.

Using the sancocho (a pan-Latin American soup with no fixed recipe) as a tool for research and encounter, Mercado Lourdes (Bogotá, Colombia) will host and organize a series of field meals. These events activate and connect the multiple affects that have resulted from ongoing research with local producers into the biodiversity of the territory.

In all continents, people have built matriarchal cosmologies sustained by complex rituals. In the advent of main modern religions and after centuries of colonizing invasions, the goddesses of antiquity were suppressed by the patriarchal structures that consolidated our era. However, they found ways to speak to us in the language of patterns, melodies, and poems. This workshop uses the voice as a method to reveal the presence of goddesses.
