KSU X Basic Activist Kitchen: Rojava – Kurdish autonomous region

On 19 December 2019, Kritische Studenten Utrecht (KSU) and the Basic Activist Kitchen invite you to an evening of information and discussion on the Rojava region and its resistance against fascist oppression.

The event will focus on alternative living practices of the region, centered around self-organization, self-determination and gender equality; and the current situation in the autonomous region, defined by its ongoing struggle against jihadist groups and ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the Turkish state.

Schedule:
19.30 A talk by the Rojava Solidarity Platform NL, as part of a united international campaign of many initiatives showing solidarity through action #RiseUp4Rojava
20.30 A workshop to consider applied practices of alternative living, and the change they can bring to our communities

There will be food to share during the event, as part of the Basic Activist Kitchen.

– Renée In der Maur: Short history of Rojava, ideology and organisational structure within Rojava, personal experiences
– Serda Nehirci, Partizan: What is happening now in Rojava, how does that impact the future of the revolution
– Vera Onipchenko, Revolutionaire Eenheid: examples of international solidarity actions and organisational structures within Europe

Taking place on Thursday 15 July 2021, the sixth gathering of Fragments of Repair/Gatherings, consists of a screening of artist Kader Attia’s Reason’s Oxymorons (2015) and a conversation between Kader Attia (Berlin) and Stefania Pandolfo (medical anthropologist, Berkeley, CA).

Fragments of Repair/Gathering V: The Object’s Interlacing

A public program realized in the framework of the multi-part project Fragments of Repair

Taking place on Thursday 24 June 2021, the fifth gathering of Fragments of Repair/Gatherings, consists of a screening of artist Kader Attia’s The Object’s Interlacing (2020), followed by a conversation between Souleymane Bachir Diagne (philosopher New York/Dakar) and Wayne Modest (material culture curator and researcher, Amsterdam/Rotterdam).

An Online Extension of BAK Public Studies

A new edition of the online course Art as Politics, taking place on the following dates: 21, 23, 28 and 30 June & 5 and 7 July 2021. The course, taught by BAK’s Maria Hlavajova, brings those involved and/or interested in art, theory, and social action into collective conversation.
