as part of Assembling in Resistance

On Wednesday 8th of April, Assembling in Resistance warmly invites you to watch together This Jungo Life, - a film Directed by David Fedele and the Jungo of Rabat. The film takes us deep inside the hidden lives of young refugees and asylum seekers from Sudan and South Sudan, living and sleeping rough on the streets of Morocco; forced to flee violence and instability in Libya, and unable to return home due to ongoing war and conflict.

Produced in collaboration with the refugees themselves, and filmed entirely using mobile phones, this film offers unique and intimate access, providing a raw and unfiltered glimpse into the human spirit and innate drive for survival, as they fight for a better life for themselves and the families they left behind.

This event is in collaboration with het Rode Keukentje, who will cook a delicious dinner for us all. It is part of our fundraising efforts to support the Jungo House, an initiative born out of the filming process, which has enabled many Sudanese and other refugees to get off the streets and into a safe and secure place to live.

Plan of the evening:

17:00 – 18:30
dinner provided on a donation basis by our comrades of the mutual aid collective het Rode Keukentje. All donations will be put towards fundraising efforts for practical solidarity to support the Jungo House in Rabat.

19:30 – 20:40

Aside from the donation towards the meal, of which the proceeds will be put towards practical solidarity to support the Jungo House in Rabat, we suggest a donation between €4-8 for your participation in this event.

About Assembling in Resistance

Assembling in Resistance is a program of political education shaped around the artwork What Are Your Flowers? created by artist and organiser Iliada Charalambous. The gatherings for collective study are inspire by what Amilcar Cabral termed as ‘militant education’. The aim is to learn from a variety of revolutionary movements across time and territory, with a focus and in collaboration with currently active movements. Assembling in Resistance engages in a process of trust-building and mutual commitment to anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist and anti-fascist politics with its collaborators. Together they delve into a political theory that not only gives us the tools to identify the problematics and workings of our current ecocidal and genocidal system, but that can also offer us the tools and mindset to build up strength, comradeship and a world built on People’s power.
