about the b.ASIC a.CTIVIST k.ITCHEN
the b.a.k. is a fugitive kitchen network with its semi-nomadic home at Bak- Basecamp for Tactical Imaginaries Utrecht, the Netherlands. It is run by a group of Utrecht based activists, artists and researchers with backgrounds in theatre, art, squatting, Community Kitchens, organizing, anthropology, history and gender studies. What we buy, what we cook, what we eat, for whom we cook and why—these are political actions. It co-uses the building, funding, and network of an institution to connect people and their politics through cooking together, redistributing abundance and ensuring nothing goes to waste. It is NOT a catering infrastructure. It sees the kitchen as a site of study and a place to nourish solidarity.
