Assembling in Resistance with Reading Counterpower Amsterdam
How do we unlearn the western tendency to compartmentalize all of life? How to live a revolutionary life in all its aspects?
In this last gathering of Assembling in Resistance with Reading Counterpower Amsterdam, we will educate ourselves on revolutionary pedagogies. How do we approach education as a way of continuously shaping our critical consciousness, rather than as an act or institution for the reproduction of culture? What can we gain from anti-authoritarian learning environments in which everyone has something to contribute and something to learn at the same time?
We want to build and strengthen infrastructures of political education that do not replicate existing power dynamics of teacher and learner. From Radical Sunday Schools, to the Zapatista National Liberation Autonomous Rebel Education System, and the anarchist New Unified School: there are many initiatives fostering alternative, egalitarian ways of learning that we can draw inspiration from.
Join us in learning how to learn together! We start with soup and then take turns reading two texts on radical pedagogies aloud. Afterward, we harvest collectively whatever insights we got from the texts.
