Breaking Bread

ongoing installation gathering family rituals around the table
with PicoPi Collective for the b.ASIC a.CTIVIST k.ITCHEN

We invite you to join the ongoing performative installation "Breaking Bread", part of the side program of the Voku at BAK in Utrecht on the 11th of December. In this installation, PicoPi Collective, a group of four theatre makers and scenographers, invites visitors to explore an evolving archive of family rituals and stories.

Drawing from their research for their Amsterdam Fringe performance "Breaking Bread", the collective investigates how families create dynamics, tensions, and moments of care around the dinner table. For this installation, they extend that research into a participatory, living archive and table installation.

Visitors are welcomed into a re-imagined family gathering, where they can hear through the stories collected so far and, if they wish, contribute a family tradition of their own.

These shared memories and rituals become part of a growing archive that continues to inform and shape the performance, expanding the collective’s exploration of food, art, and scenography around the table.

Guests are invited to witness, reflect, and enjoy, to share a memory, or simply to observe the diverse ways in which families meet, clash, and connect. And to enter a new curated space.

For your participation we suggest a donation between €5-10
