Ableism in Activism
A workshop on anti-ableist organizing
facilitated by Crip Crap
This interactive workshop invites activists, organizers, and community members to reflect on their relationship to disability justice. Through collective learning, discussion, and practical exercises, participants will explore how ableism shapes organizing spaces and how solidarity networks can be transformed to better support collective
access and care. The workshop is facilitated by Crip Crap and organized by community organizers involved in mutual aid and disability justice in Utrecht.
Fundraiser
This workshop is part of a fundraiser supporting a disabled comrade who urgently needs a new wheelchair after being denied adequate care by the Dutch healthcare system. Funds raised go toward wheelchair access and other disability aids. More information and the donation link can be found via the fundraiser page here.
Participation
Walk-ins are welcome; sign-up is encouraged to help us manage capacity
An optional community dinner will take place after the workshop
A sign-up form is available to share access needs and, if desired, to request an online participation link.
The workshop takes place on the ground floor and in the auditorium at BAK Basecamp, both of which are wheelchair accessible. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor. Seating will be available, and we aim to accommodate different comfort needs where possible (e.g. cushions, space to change positions).
This is a Covid-cautious event. Participants are asked to take a Covid self-test before attending in person; tests will be available on site. Masks are encouraged.
The workshop will be held in English. Access needs can be shared via the sign-up form or by contacting the organizers.
